Beloved Wife, Mother, Grandmother, and Friend
It is with deep sorrow and immense love that we share the passing of Pamela Jeanne Corrigan on March 27, 2025. She left this world peacefully after six years of courageously defying the odds against stage 4 ovarian cancer. On her final day, she spoke of how much she missed her beloved husband, Richard Corrigan, whom she was married to for 53 years before his passing in 2021. Now, they are together once more.
Pamela was a woman of great intellect, deep Catholic faith, and boundless love. Born in Manhattan to the late Donald R. Schultz and Elizabeth June Schultz (Smith), she was raised in Parkchester, NY. She excelled academically and earned a Regents Nursing Scholarship to St. Vincent’s in NYC in 1965. It was in New York City, while Richard was attending Manhattan College, that their love story began. Together, they built a beautiful life, had three daughters and 10 grandchildren and left an extraordinary legacy of love.
Richard’s career took the family overseas, where Pamela embraced the culture and expat lifestyle in Malaysia and Singapore. She found purpose in service, working with refugee camps, teaching Lamaze and breastfeeding classes, and supporting women and children in need. Her passion for education and healthcare followed her back to the U.S., where she was promoted to Campus Director of Concorde Career Institute, later serving as Dean of Lakeland Career Institute. Never one to stop learning or leading, she went on to build and approve nursing curricula for the state of Florida through her own consulting firm.
Beyond her professional achievements, Pamela’s creativity and passion shined throughout her life. Whether through clothing she sewed, themed quilts she designed and stitched for every grandchild, her exquisite dollhouses or her extensive journaling, she had a natural ability to express herself through a multitude of creative outlets. She was a devoted Gators sports fan, pop culture aficionado, daily New York Times crossword solver, and adopted new technology faster than those 50 years her junior.
Her love for travel was legendary. She explored Asia and Europe with her family during summers, and in retirement, she and Richard journeyed through South America, the Baltics, and the Mediterranean, making memories that will be cherished forever. Their Florida home was a sanctuary, but nothing brought her more joy than summers spent surrounded by her grandchildren at Big Canoe, GA.
Pamela’s Catholic faith was unwavering, and she offered wisdom, strength, and spiritual guidance to all who knew her. She was her family’s source of profound support, and the most positive voice in any room. Her love, resilience, and grace will live on in the lives she touched.
She is survived by Cheryl Barlow (Eric, mother to Ethan, Colin, Ben), Karen Thorpe (Peter, mother to Emily, Ally, James, Amy) - both of Atlanta, GA and Susan Pitt (Michael, mother to Parker, Jack, Paisley) of Minneapolis, MN. Her siblings are Laura Naughton and Donald Schultz (deceased).
A Mass to celebrate her life will be held on Saturday, April 5 at 10:00 AM at Espiritu Santo in Safety Harbor, the parish she and Richard called home for many years. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made in her honor to Rise Against Hunger, an organization actively working to provide meals to those in need around the world, a cause she and Richard worked closely with and deeply believed in. May she rest in eternal peace, surrounded by the love she so freely gave.
