Pat was born on November 18, 1939 to Minnie Marie and Louis Peter Cyr in Detroit, Michigan. She had two older brothers, Ernest H. Cyr and Harold E. Cyr that eventually went on to serve in the Navy. Pat studied classical piano from age 4 and continued this for the next 13½ years, five of which were under the tutelage of Clayton Walker who was blind. She was blessed with perfect pitch which when this was combined with her hard work, resulted in her becoming an accomplished pianist. Pat also learned popular music from the 20's through the 50's as her mother sang in Vaudeville and her dad played drums in a band during their early years. In 1952 the family relocated from Detroit to Largo, Florida where she attended Largo High school, graduating in 1957. Following graduation Pat played professionally for 5 years a few years and met the love of her life, Hansford (Hank) C. Richardson. They were married September 17, 1960 at Peace Memorial Presbyterian church in Clearwater, Florida after hurricane Donna forced them to push their date out by a couple of weeks. Due to flooding concerns they purchased a home in 1960 that is atop one of the few hills in Clearwater where she since has resided. They began attending Grace Baptist Church in Clearwater where both accepted Jesus Christ as their personal savior. Pat began to use her musical talents to serve the Lord which she faithfully continued for the next 60 years playing for Grace Baptist and many other churches across the Suncoast region including Lakeside Community church, East Lake Road Baptist, Crossroads Baptist and for the bulk of the last decade, The People’s Church. It would be impossible to list all worship services, cantatas, weddings, funerals and special events for which she played not to mention the thousands of hours spent rehearsing. A couple of highlights however might include accompanying John Chellis “Jack” Conner and playing at the Bayfront Center for Christian songwriter John W. Peterson. It should be mentioned that she gladly served all no matter how great or how small. She stated "I'm so very thankful God has given me the gift of music". Pat and Hank longed to start a family but their plans were again delayed. Unknown to them, the Lord needed them to wait as there was a little boy that would soon need a home. In 1964, an uncle in Detroit inquired if they might be interested in adopting a baby that was soon to be born to one of his friends. Without hesitation they accepted the offer and a baby boy arrived and was placed in her arms on Christmas Day, 1964. Just one year later she would give birth to a second son and a few years later a third. As the family grew, the size of Pat’s home did as well and Pat used her home to welcome and serve all. She served her family tirelessly, making each day special. Her children and husband enjoyed clothing she stitched, homemade meals, bread baked from scratch and endless desserts. During holidays her home was used for large gatherings of friends and families where she would serve and they could all celebrate together. During the early years she stayed home with her boys but as they grew older she re-entered the workforce. After obtaining her Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) license, she worked in private home health care for many years. From 1987 to 2005 was spent working in the church office at Peace Memorial Presbyterian Church where among many other duties she mastered desktop publishing and served the members and staff. She and Hank enjoyed attending Largo High Class of ’57 reunions which she helped plan with other former classmates and Largo Historical Society’s annual Cracker Supper. Although her dad passed away in 1965, she enjoyed the company of her mother until 2004, even taking her into her home to care for her the last year or so of her life until she went home to be with the Lord. She celebrated her 50th wedding anniversary in 2010 but just a year later Hank too went home to be with Jesus. She enjoyed her retirement years keeping busy attending Bible study, playing piano, worshiping, and attending luncheons with the “Grace Girls” a group of close friends that also attended Grace Baptist Church. On Thursday evening, June 11th, 2020, Patricia (Pat) Ann Richardson peacefully went to sleep on earth and awoke to a joyous celebration as she arrived in heaven!
