

Prospero "Pete" Rivelli, Jr. passed away on November 3, 2023, at the age of 85 in Palm Harbor, Florida. He was born on August 29, 1938, in Manhattan, New York City. Pete was known to his loved ones as a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He was always a warrior, a fighter, a wise advisor and a hero to those who loved him. Always a true family man, he was a kid at heart with a wonderful sense of humor. His passion for life did not go unnoticed in true Italian style. He was always interested in learning history and sharing life stories with his family. In his youth, he was an avid champion boxer and in his adult life a passionate skier and competitive racquetball player. A big football fan at heart, he originally cheered on the NY Giants, but came to root for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers once he moved his family to Clearwater, Florida in 1978.
Pete is survived by his wife, Susan "Sue" Rivelli, and their daughters: Desiree (John) Tatum, Noelle (Scott) Megill, and Carly (Jeremy) Schrader. He was also a proud grandfather to Lars Tatum, Milana Tatum, Jagger Megill, Pierce Megill, Skylar Schrader, Sawyer Schrader, Saxton Schrader, and Sailor Schrader. Additionally, Pete leaves behind two great grandsons, Alex and Maverick. Pros also had many beloved cousins, nephews, and nieces and is survived by: Chris Venditto, Debbie Lewaine, Carol Ann Davide, Marilyn Mazzarise, Rita Morano, Linda Totino, Trevor Wichmann, and Liberty Barbas. He was preceded in death by his father, Prospero Rivelli, his mother, Josephine Palmieri Rivelli, and his sister, Anne Venditto.
Pros began his education at P.S. 147 in Manhattan then moved onto Shallow Junior High Brooklyn, NY. He later attended New Utrecht High School, Brooklyn, NY, then served in the US Marine Corps from 1957-1962, where he made significant contributions to his military associations, and later attended Brooklyn College.
Following his military service, Pros embarked on a successful career. Ever since Pros was a teenager he wanted to protect and serve. He was inducted into the New York City Police Department as a patrol officer in 1965, then moved on to the NYPD Housing Authority as communication specialist until 1974 where he retired after 9 years of dedicated service. A true entrepreneur at heart, Pete became an real estate investor and received his Florida Contractor’s License in 1980. Owning and selling many real estate properties, he then later became a financial partner and developed Whispering Oaks Golf Course from 1988-1991. Afterwards, he collaborated with his partner to own and operate A+ Plus Wheelchair Transportation.
Pete worshipped at St. Ignatius of Antioch Roman Catholic Church in Tarpon Springs, Florida, where he found solace and strength. Ever since childhood, Pros was deeply engaged in his hobbies- he was highly competitive in sports and card games, and had a deep interest in model trains/planes. He also loved to travel throughout the United States and abroad.
A visitation will be held at Sylvan Abbey Funeral Home, 2853 Sunset Point Rd., Clearwater, Florida, on Tuesday, November 7, 2023, from 6 pm to 8 pm. A Funeral Mass will take place on Wednesday, November 8, 2023, at 11 am at St. Ignatius Catholic Church in Tarpon Springs. Graveside to follow at Sylvan Abbey Memorial Park at 12:30 pm.
