Richard was a resident of Dunedin Florida. He graduated with a Bachelors degree in Exercise Physiology from the FSU. Shortly after graduation Richard was hired by the Toronto Blue Jays as their sports strength and conditioning coach. Richard’s workout routines were so rigorous that his team members gave him the nickname of “Saddam”. Richard was able to enhance the teams fitness protocol by creating data processing programs to track improvement to baseline fitness levels. His coaching helped the Jays improve team member fitness levels, an achievement that was a significant factor in the teams World Series championship victory in 1992. Richard’s methodology of combining rigorous training with data based measurement became standard practices for Major League Baseball.
Richard transitioned from the sports fitness world to Information Technology specializing in the Medical Industry. He worked for Moffit Cancer Center in Tampa and later for Smith and Nephew in Clearwater.
Richard joined Press Ganey Corporation, a medical information patient survey technology leader in 2010. Information technology was Richard’s passion, he stayed at the cutting edge of his profession by continuous learning, hard work and creative experimentation. During his career he was awarded several patents for developing new and creative IT tools.
Ricky was not your typical IT geek. He loved sports, family gatherings and old movies. Ricky never forgot a birthday or anniversary. He was kind and generous to family and friends and had an almost childlike love of the Christmas season.
Richard is survived by his loving wife, Angel, his brother, Scott and his sisters, Cynthia and Patricia as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life will be held October 6, 2019 from 1 pm until 4 pm at Sylvan Abbey Funeral Home.
