Sonja Racine Hall

Racine Hall, 81, died peacefully on April 13, 2022 at her residence under the care of Suncoast Hospice.

For nearly five decades, Racine was the face of banking in Clearwater. Born in Freeman, WVA, Racine moved to Clearwater in 1962 where she began her banking career at the historic Bank of Clearwater. As she advanced in her career onto Executive Vice President position, she and other bank executives, Dave Carly and David Stone, opened Citizens Bank & Trust in 1986. After an acquisition in 1996, she moved onto People’s bank, currently known today as Synovus, where she continued as Executive Vice President and Business Development officer when she finally retired in 2010.

Racine was very active in her civic services and served on many boards over her career, including the Chamber of Commerce, The Rotary Club and The Altrusa Club.

She loved to travel, play the slot machines, and was a gifted painter with a wonderful eye for fashion and design. Every year she would personally decorate the bank’s lobby Christmas trees. These trees were renowned for their beauty and elegance.

She was survived by her son, Mark Lambert, of New Port Richey and her two daughters, Kelli Racine Wynn (Ed), and Annie Racine Dorough (Steve) both from Tallahassee; her brothers Buddy Kirby of Richmond, VA and Harry “Snook” Short of New Port Richey, and seven grandchildren: Tim Lambert (Michelle), Ryan Davis, Jonathan Wynn, Andrew Wynn, Kayla Dorough, Trevor Dorough, and Timmy Dorough. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Roger Lambert, of 15 years and she was preceded in death by her husband of 33 years, James D. “Jimmy” Hall.

She was loved by so many and will be missed immeasurably.

A visitation will be held Monday, April 25, 2022 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Sylvan Abbey Memorial Park and Funeral Home, 2853 SUNSET POINT RD, CLEARWATER, FL 33759.

A Celebration of Life will occur Monday, April 25, 2022 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM, 2853 SUNSET POINT RD, CLEARWATER, FL 33759. A celebration of life luncheon will immediately follow the service from 12:00 PM to 1:30 PM, 2853 SUNSET POINT RD, CLEARWATER, FL 33759. A committal service will occur Monday, April 25, 2022 from 1:30 PM to 2:00 PM at Sylvan Abbey Memorial Park, 2860 SUNSET POINT RD, CLEARWATER, FL 33759.
