MEADOR, SYLVIA, 75, born on November 5, 1940, in North Carolina, left her family peacefully on June 27, 2016. Sylvia settled in Plantation, Florida in 1967 and relocated to Largo, Florida, in 2002. Sylvia taught elementary school in Broward County and also taught adults English until she retired due to her chronic lupus. Her heroic 41 year struggle with lupus set an example of how to embrace life and never give up. Sylvia was a Girl Scout leader, church deacon, and graduate of Florida Atlantic University. Sylvia loved travel, socializing, and the company of her good friends. She is survived by daughters, Noel White (Jack) and Susan Longworth (Jack) and four grandchildren, Daniel Longworth, Jonathan Longworth, Natalie White and James White. Viewing will be from 2:00 pm Friday, July 1, 2016 until service time at 3:00 p.m. at Sylvan Abbey Funeral Home, 2853 Sunset Point Road, Clearwater, FL. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Lupus Foundation of America.
