I always looked forward to Grandpa's annual visit during the holidays.  He was so wicked smart and had such a strong presence about him.  It seemed there was nothing that he didn't know or have knowledge on.  I miss sitting on the couch and talking to him about various topics.  I miss needing to remind my parents to buy a large container of applesauce, which he enjoyed with every meal no matter what it was.  I wish he were still here, there is so much more I wish I could say and so much more I wish we could talk about.  I wish we had more time, however,  I'm grateful for the time I did get with him, and I'll always treasure it and aspire to be more like him.

I had the wonderful pleasure of knowing your father, Tom, we attended the Largo Socrates café together.  Tom was smart, kind and had a unique take on life.  Tom will be greatly missed by all of us and the private conversations we had in the past.

Where to begin- having stumbled across Socrates six years ago and then expanding our local franchise  almost five years ago, Tom was my most faithful co-conspirator, the definition of Loyal Opposition I could always count on to keep the ball in play. 
He maintained that he could be convinced at any moment of anything if the arguments were sound. 
We had personal discussions on pedagogy as well as the purposes of Socrates and I'd come to rely upon him as a principal and principled sounding board. 
One of our last conversations I told him I didn't know how I'd manage without him, as I'd learned how truly an integral part he'd played in his absences. 
He replied that we'd find a way to muddle along. 
Which  of course we will, but for a long while to come it will be a lot less fun without his 'magic words'

My profound sympathies to the Kelsey family.  Tom will be missed in the Fernbrooke neighborhood.  My thoughts and prayers are with you during this difficult time.

I will miss Tom at the Socrates meetings. He was articulate, thought-provoking  and could express his thoughts very well.  My deepest sympathy to his friends and family.

Dear Kelsey Family:
I had the pleasure and fortune to work with Tom at the Chicago Auto Show. He was an amazing person and I was very sad that I never had a chance to say good-bye. There were so many different sides of him and as I read his obituary, I learned even more. The one thing I truly knew was how much he loved his family. I know how fortunate I was to know him. You all are in my heart and prayers.

To the Kelsey family, I extend my heartfelt sympathy. Tom's passion for philosophy made Socrates Café interesting and enjoyable - he truly had a gift.  I especially enjoyed the after meeting lunches where we would extend the discussion for hours.  I will miss him dearly.

Tom had a gift that really worked well with Socrates Cafe. He could take a question that had an obvious one word answer and work it and expand it in many directions. Before you knew it the two hours was up and we had been taken down a stimulating and thought provoking path. It was always a good mental exercise with Tom. I'm sure that everyone at the Cafe that knew Tom will miss him...
