Veronica (Ronni) Mary Krieger was born May 21, 1946 to Edward and Julia Swieca in Leominster, MA. She attended St. Bernard’s High School and graduated from Fitchburg State University as a Bachelor of Science in Education. Following her graduation in 1968, she decided to escape the snow and teach in Tarpon Springs, Florida. This would be the beginning of a distinguished career in elementary education that would span 36 years.
Her career in the school system allowed her to positively influence the children she taught. Many moved on to esteemed roles such as Congressman Gus Bilirakis. After 12 years at Tarpon Springs Elementary she would move to Leila Davis Elementary where she would stay for the remainder of her 24 years in the Pinellas County School System. Her time teaching would be rewarded again and again as students would come up to her years later to express gratitude and reminisce with her about their time in her classroom. Teaching was truly one of her greatest gifts that she enjoyed sharing with others long after her retirement.
In 1968, she was set up on a blind date and would meet the love of her life, David Edward Krieger. One year later the two would marry on August 9, 1969. To say that they loved each other would be an understatement. They were never far apart and made sure to end each day, no matter what, with an “I LOVE YOU”. It was a pact that was made at the beginning of the marriage and endured for the 52 years of their union. It is a practice that Dave continues to this day.
Ronni and Dave were very proud and loving parents of their two children and four grandchildren. Their first child Michelle Elizabeth Krieger is the parent of Adrianna and Raven. The second child, Adam Christopher Krieger married the lovely Amanda Haislip and are the parents of Jeffrey and Levi. Ronni’s love for her family only grew with each passing day.
Ronni was very active in the Catholic Church. She participated as a cantor and member in the choir. Often her singing was heard in multiple masses each week. She was a very spiritual person and was instrumental in converting her husband to Catholicism. God played a part in every aspect of her daily life. She made sure to impart the teachings of the Lord on her children, grandchildren, and to all who knew her. Her giving heart and selflessness will continue to inspire us forever.
A memorial service for Veronica will be held Friday, July 23, 2021 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at ESPITITU SANTO CATHOLIC CHURCH, Safety Harbor, FL. Following the memorial service will be a reception from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM at SYLVAN ABBEY FUNERAL HOME, Clearwater, FL.
