Annabelle Horner Savage

Annabelle Horner Savage, 94, passed away surrounded by her loving family on 12/21/2023 in Winston Salem, NC after a short but courageous battle with cancer. She was born in Somerset County, PA to the late Homer Griffith Horner and Mary Maebelle Cauffiel Horner.

She received a Bachelors Degree in Nursing from St. Francis Nursing School, University of Pitssburgh, PA in 1949. She spent most of her work life in industrial nursing.

She was an avid gardener, traveler, and Silver Sneakers participant. Annabelle loved playing Bridge and Canasta with her friends. She spent many years volunteering at Raleigh Social Services and St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Raleigh, NC. She loved spending time with her beloved grandchildren, baking cookies and going to the beach.

Annabelle is survived by her son, John E. Savage, III; her daughter, Susan ORourke (Fran); her grandchildren, Kathleen ORourke Holden, and Erin ORourke; and her nephew Colin Colson. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, John E. Savage, Jr; her sister, Hazel "Jackie" Colson; and her brother Donald Horner.

A funeral mass to celebrate the life of Annabelle will be held 1PM on March 2 at St. Francis of Assisi in Raleigh, NC. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations can be made to Trellis Hospice Services, Winston Salem.

Annabelle will be forever missed by her loved ones and all those whose lives she touched. She will forever be in our hearts.
