Annie Stuart McDonald of Brookridge Retirement Home, Winston Salem, North Carolina, passed away January 14, 2021. She was the only child born to the late Harvey and Bessie Stuart of Roxboro, North Carolina. She graduated from Campbell Junior College in 1950 and while there served as President of the Baptist Student Union and President of the Girls House Counsel. Upon graduation, she went to work for Durham Life Insurance Company. In 1951, she married Virgil McDonald. She worked for Tabernacle Baptist Church in Raleigh, North Carolina for five years. Her final employment was for the Baptist State Convention of North Carolina, where she worked for thirty years. The Campbell Alumni Association awarded her its Annual Service Award. She and husband Virgil established the Virgil and Annie Stuart McDonald Divinity Scholarship at Campbell University, Buies Creek North Carolina. Upon retirement, the McDonalds moved to the Brookridge Retirement Community in Winston Salem and joined College Park Baptist Church. She is survived by several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Due to the covid virus, a private burial service will be held in Raleigh, North Carolina. Memorial Contributions can be made to the Virgil and Annie Stuart McDonald Divinity Scholarship.
