

KERNERSVILLE — Mrs. Betty Sechrest Baker, 75, of Kernersville, went home to be with her Lord on November 2, 2012 at her home of 53 years.
Betty, “Tootsie” to her friends was born on December 13, 1936 in Guilford County to the late Sam and Neva Sechrest. Betty’s most precious virtue was her selflessness toward others. She was a loving, caring and devoted wife, mother and Memaw.
Betty was a lifelong member of Union Grove Baptist Church. Her ministry was sending cards and her specialty was banana pudding. She retired from Lorillard and also owned and operated Betty’s Beauty Shop.
In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Buddy Baker; brothers, Craig, Ralph and Lee Sechrest and sisters, Irma Sechrest Bowman and Faye Sechrest Pyrtle.
Surviving are her children, Denise Baker McDonald (Michael) of Oak Ridge and Chris Baker (Dana) of Kernersville. She was beloved Memaw to her Grandchildren, Jeremy McDonald (Carrie) of Greensboro, Casie McDonald of Charlotte, Matthew and Noah Baker of Kernersville; and Great Granddaughter, Mallory McDonald.
A celebration of her life will be held at 3 p.m. Monday, November 5, 2012 at Union Grove Baptist Church with Rev. Paul Dean and Dr. Pete Kunkle officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 1 PM to 2:45 PM in the church fellowship building, The Arbor.
