To the family of Brenda Burris

I wanted to share my sympathy to each of you over the loss of Brenda.  Brenda, as well as other family members, were so kind to my mother, Margaret Gidley, in her time of need.

You all were so caring to both of my parents and provided much comfort to all of us. Thank you for being in our lives.

Joyce was a kind and loving woman.  She was always there for her family no matter what.  She was so strong in her faith and I admire her for that. I believe that’s what brought her through tough times.  She always found good in everyone.  There were vacations and birthday parties that we all shared. I know she will be missed so much.  I hope the family can find comfort and peace in the coming days. 

So sorry to hear of Brenda"s passing. I worked with her at KMart for years and she was one of the most kindest and loving person there ever was. She never sad a bad word about any one and was always nice no matter what went on in her own life. WE had some good times and I will miss her happy face. Love alnd prayers for all of you.

When I was a child, each weekend, Sheri would take Adam and I to church and then we would go to Joyce's for Sunday Lunch. Joyce was always so welcoming to me and my brother. I was just a nervous, awkward child and she made me feel at home each time we were there.  Sunday afternoons at Joyce's house were always full of family, friends, and of course food. The love she put into preparing a meal for her family was unlike anything I ever knew. She made sure everyone had what they like to eat and everyone had as much as they wanted. She loved caring for others and truly loved others. The love she had for her family and friends was unconditional. She was a true example of what a follower of Christ should be. She will be missed and the love she gave will live in the hearts of her family and friends forever. 

Joyce was my mother-in-law but also a good friend. She was a person always shows kindness, never heard a word of anger or harm to anyone. 

As a mother she loved her family, and everyone who met her had to love her.

Joyce will always be missed. You are forever in our hearts. We will always have fond memories of who you were’s and will see you in heaven when our time comes.

Some called her Brenda some called her Joyce she also went by granny or grandma and I called her mom. She was the fiercest, strongest most loving and nurturing person I ever knew. I talked to her every day multiple times. She had strong faith and knew where she was going but suffered a little longer because she knew we weren’t ready for her to go. Her only regret was not being able to see the rest of the great grandkids that would be born and marriages and watch Lilly grow up. Selfless in everything she did. Best cook, gardener, mother and friend and granny to all of us. Words cannot express the love I have for my sweet mama. I love her so much and will never measure up but I will strive to make her proud of the Grammy and daughter and mother and Christian and friend that I am and will be. Until we meet again in Heaven the hole in my heart will never mend but I am happy your suffering is over and you rejoicing has began.  

When I think of Joyce I feel like it's pretty easy to describe her, it's selfless. She took care of anyone that walked through her door. I think her love language was cooking because every morning at the beach we would walk down to their room and she would give me the LONGEST list of foods that I was welcome to make for myself and eat.  She would then say something about how "I'm so sorry I can't get up and make it for you but really, you can have anything you want." Even after that she listed a few more things and then remembering how picky my husband Jonathon is she said "and Jonathon we've got chicken nuggets in the freezer." 
I'm so thankful to have known her. And be a part of the family she has built and left on earth to bless the people with everything she has taught them. 
Heaven gained a great one. 


God allowed me to meet Dominic a year ago, and one of the first people he wanted to introduce me to was his Granny. He told me how wonderful of a woman she was, and she meant so much to him. I grew very close to Granny this past year, and she has taught me so much. It's difficult for me to choose just one memory because they're all so precious. Sweet Granny will forever be in my heart.
