Joyce was born on October 9, 1941, in Mercer, New Jersey to the late Robert William Kohfeldt and Doris Gore Kohfeldt. She began her education at Hastings on Hudson High School in New York, followed by Earlham College in Richmond, Indiana for her Bachelor’s Degree, and finally Michigan State University in Lansing, Michigan for her Masters in Administration. Joyce worked as a teacher and administrator while simultaneously owning IESS, Inc. a school supply company.
God blessed Joyce with a heart for giving. Her philanthropy knew no bounds. She was a continuous supporter of: Ronald McDonald House Charities of the Piedmont Triad, Crosby Scholars, Second Harvest Food Bank of NWNC, The Winston-Salem Foundation Forsyth Education Partnership, and Riverwood Therapeutic Riding Center.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her niece Shelly Kohfeldt. Joyce is survived by her brother, Richard Robert Kohfeldt, great niece, Maddie, great nephew, Jake, adopted family, Chuck, Sue, Christina and Chad Kraft, as well as many friends.
The funeral service will be Friday, May 5th at 11 am at the Lutheran Church of the Epiphany with a reception to follow. There will be a graveside service the same day at 2 pm at Westlawn Gardens of Memory in Clemmons with Pastor Russell Peek.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Joyce’s home church, the Lutheran Church of the Epiphany, any of the charities Joyce supported or the donor’s favorite charity.
