

Born in June 27, 1939 in Brights, VA, she was the daughter of the late Albert Clyde and Mamie Lee Brumfield. Effie attended Whitmell High School, where she lettered in basketball and was a seamstress, where she retired from BF Playwear in Danville. Effie was a caring and loving mother to her daughters. She was a wonderful cook with her specialty being sour cream pound cake and homemade fudge. Effie was a member of Hopewell Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Early Clyde Brumfield (infant), Laurs Brumfield, and Robert Lee Brumfield; four sisters, Eva Wayne Brumfield (infant), Frances Brumfield Buchanan, Susie Mae Brumfield, and Ila Faye Reid; sister-in-law, Robyn Lewis Brumfield; and son-in-law, Robert Slayton.
She is survived by her husband, Nelson Davis; three daughters, Judy Powers and husband Greg, Cindy Slayton, and Virginia Harding and husband Danny; brother, Larry David Brumfield; and many special nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A celebration of life service will be held at 3 pm on Sunday, November 9, 2025 at Hopewell Church on Dry Fork Rd. The family will receive friends prior to the service starting at 2 pm.
