

Eleanor was born in Winston-Salem on May 8, 1922 a daughter to the late, Walter Reich Tesh and the late, Della Ann Styers Tesh. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Gilson Gray Shermer and four brothers.
She was a Sunday School Teacher for years in the Church of Christ. Eleanor enjoyed having a child care in her home and she also loved playing scrabble, sewing, and gardening. Throughout her illness she never lost her sense of humor and was a favorite at Clemmons Village. Living in Winston-Salem all of her life she was a graduate of Hanes High School. Eleanor was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She will be missed by all that knew her.
Eleanor is survived by five children, Thom Shermer and wife, Pat of Yorktown, PA, Talmadge Shermer and wife, Iris of Brownsboro, TX, Diane Williams and husband, Don, of West Lafayette, IN, Eleanor Smith and husband, Ken of Winston-Salem and Cathy Pauley and husband, David of Winston-Salem; a sister, Rowena Southern of Raleigh; ten grandchildren, twenty great grandchildren, and five great great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held 2:00 PM, Tuesday, February 9th at Forsyth Memorial Park. The family request that you dress with casual attire. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 PM Monday at Frank Vogler and Sons Funeral Home Reynolda Chapel.
