

Mrs. Evelyn Allen Mangum, 76, went to be with the Lord on July 25, 2010 at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem. She was born September 2, 1933 in Union County to the late Jessie Bell Allen and Bronnie Staton Allen of Marshville, North Carolina. She was preceded in death by her husband, Fred Love Mangum, Sr. and her two sons Kenneth Edward Mangum and Fred Love Mangum Jr. She is survived by her sister Mildred Allen of Marshville, North Carolina and by her loving daughter, Cynthia Mangum Mills and husband Franklin Joseph Mills, Jr. and three grandchildren, Forrest Tyler Mills, Rachel Lauren Mills, and Tucker Ryan Mills, all of Winston-Salem, North Carolina and her loving friend and companion Ray Clever of Clemmons, North Carolina. Evelyn was a long time member of First Presbyterian Church of Winston-Salem. She was an active member of the choir, women’s bible study, and Prime Timers. She was a graduate of Wingate University and University of North Carolina – Greensboro. She was a retired Yadkin County school teacher, teaching most of her years at East Bend Elementary School. Evelyn loved to play bridge, spend hours in her yard tending to her plants and flowers, and had a love of watching and feeding birds. She was a devoted grandmother who always valued the time spent with her three grandchildren. Her memorial service will be conducted at 11:00 am, Friday, July 30, at Vogler & Sons Funeral Home at 2951 Reynolda Road, Winston-Salem, North Carolina.
