

Mrs. Frances Sigman Martin, 84, of Winston-Salem, passed away on Easter Sunday (April 4, 2010) from complications of Alzheimer’s disease. She was born in Winston-Salem to Oscar Monroe and Jerdie Fisher Sigman and was graduated from Hanes High School, worked at Western Electric Company, and then became a full time homemaker. Mrs. Martin was preceded in death by her parents. She was a life-long member of Northwest Baptist Church. Mrs. Martin delighted in her longtime friendships, her husband’s rose garden, her church, canning garden vegetables, and above all, spending quality time with her family. In all aspects of life, she exemplified the simple virtues of faith, hope, and love.
Mrs. Martin is survived by her husband of sixty years, Kedric Ewing Martin, of the home; daughter Susan Martin Barber of Boone, NC. and her husband Art; son Keith Monroe Martin of Charlotte, NC., and his wife Beth; granddaughter Jamie Barber Durham of Boone, NC and her husband Wayne; two great granddaughters Katie Ruth Durham and Mattie Susan Durham; and grandson Brandon Arthur Barber of Charleston, SC and his wife Stacie.
A Memorial Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday (April 7, 2010) 2:00 PM at the Vogler Funeral Home Reynolda Chapel, 2915 Reynolda Road, Winston-Salem (336-722-6106) with burial to follow at Forsyth Memorial Park. The family will visit with their friends from 1:00 PM until the service Wednesday at the funeral home.
The Family expresses heartfelt thanks to the kind membership and staff of Northwest Baptist Church, to the staff of Forest Heights Senior Living Community, and Hospice of Winston-Salem, for their compassionate care during Mrs. Martin’s illness.
