

Harvey Hugh Hicks, 86, of Lewisville, died on Tuesday, February 9, 2016 at Springwood Nursing Center, where he had been a patient for several years. He was born in Forsyth County to William Jennings and Mabel Reinhardt Hicks. He was a faithful member of Immanuel Baptist Church in Clemmons, served in the US Army and a volunteer fireman in Lewisville for many years. He was compassionate and generous with time and money. For more than fifty years, he sponsored numerous children through Children’s International. Upon retiring from R. J. Reynolds Tobacco Company he joined the VFW Post 9010 and dedicated the next twenty years to serving in the VFW Honor Guard. Weekly, he attended multiple funerals throughout the region providing a final Military Tribute for fellow veterans. He loved new cars, airplanes, being with family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by one maternal aunt, Edwina Reinhardt Martin; two paternal aunts, Jettie Hicks Hege, and Lillie Conrad Hicks, and a host of cousins and friends.
The family extends thanks to the staff of Springwood Nursing Center, Hospice, and faithful friends, Kim Phillips and Devy Nanlohy.
Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, February 13 at 11 am at Vogler’s, Clemmons Chapel. The family will receive friends at 10:00 am. Burial will follow the funeral at Westlawn Memorial Gardens, Clemmons.
