

Henry “Hank” William Harris, 93, passed away peacefully in his home at Brighton Gardens on Thursday, December 22nd, 2016. He was born in Mt. Airy on March 8th, 1923 to his parents Brady and Nellie Harris.
Hank retired from the United States Air Force, 8th Air force, after over 20 years of service and was a World War II Veteran. Hank was the recipient of the USAF Distinguished Flying Cross and the Girl Scouts “Thanks 2” Badge. He served as a Winston-Salem/Forsyth County kindergarten teacher assistant, and was an executive with the Boy Scouts. Hank was an active member of the TPA, O.K. Teachers, Trefoil Guild, Girl Scouts, 4H, FAEYC, American Legion, and of Maple Springs United Methodist Church. His hobbies included gardening, camping, and fishing.
Hank is survived by his wife, Carolyn P. Harris; son, Hank Harris Jr.; granddaughter Emily; daughter, Jill H. Welborn (Stan); grandson, Dakota.
Hank is preceded in death by his parents Nellie and Brady Harris; brother Jack Harris; sisters, Kathleen Carroll, Irene Easter, Georgia Ruth Johnson; and his son, Bruce Harris

A visitation for Hank will be held Monday, December 26th, 2016 at Frank Vogler & Sons Funeral Home on Reynolda Road from 6pm to 8pm. A funeral service for Hank will be held at Maple Springs United Methodist Church on Reynolda Road on Tuesday, December 27th, 2016 at 2pm with burial to follow at Forsyth Memorial Park.
