

WINSTON-SALEM - Margaret Snyder New of Winston-Salem, North Carolina, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Friday, December 4, 2009, at Vienna Village. Margaret was born December 13, 1924, in Seymour, Texas. She was preceded in death by her husband of 40 years, Lt. Colonel Charles G. New, a retired Air Force fighter pilot. As a military wife, Margaret lived and traveled throughout the United States and many foreign countries. Artistically talented, Margaret loved to paint and write. She is the author of "Where the Paintbrush Blooms", a novel about one of her passions, life on the early Texas frontier. Her other interests included gardening, reading, traveling, and playing bridge. Margaret is survived by four children, Rebecca Hendrickson and husband, Robert Hendrickson of Clemmons, NC, Melinda Hodge and husband, Michael Hodge of Knoxville, TN, Suzanne Seely and husband, Dr. Richard Seely of Fairfax Station, VA, and Dr. Charles G. New, Jr. and wife, Eileen New of Winston-Salem, NC. It gave Margaret pleasure to spend time in the company of her nine grandchildren; and eleven great-grandchildren. Her grandchildren are: Jamie Moore, Christie Wall, Tanya Christiansen, Scott Honeycutt, Ryan Honeycutt, Dr. Melissa Seely-Morgan, Richie Seely, and Maggie and Charlie New. Margaret is also survived by two sisters, Billie Hendrix of Greenwood, AR, and Nancy Norman of Bowling Green, KY; and a brother, James Snyder of Wichita Falls, TX. A Funeral Service for Margaret will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, December 12, 2009, at the Frank Vogler & Sons Reynolda Road Chapel with Chaplain Craig Walker officiating. Interment will follow in Forsyth Memorial Park with a Committal Service taking place in the Mausoleum Chapel. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the Service at the Chapel. The family wishes to extend its gratitude and heartfelt thanks to the staff at Vienna Village and Hospice and Palliative Care Center who treated Margaret with dignity and compassion. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to Hospice and Palliative Care Center, Winston-Salem, NC or Vienna Village, Pfafftown, NC.
