

Melonee Woods Blackmon, 62, was born April 29,1954 to the late Gilbert Hairston and the late Magaline Foxx, in Winston Salem, NC. She went home to be with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on November 17, 2016, after a lengthy illness.
Melonee was educated in the Winston Salem School system and a graduate of Parkland High School in 1972, where she was a majorette. She was a longtime employee of Bell South and retired from AT&T Inc.
Melonee was a member of Hanes CME Methodist Church where she was a faithful member of the choir for many years. She was an avid sports fan and her vibrant personality was contagious. She had a beautiful smile that lit up every room that she entered. Melonee was always a go-getter and never backed down from a challenge; which is why she sold Princess House, Amway, Mary Kay, Tupperware, Avon and Home Interiors. She was always a top seller who enjoyed hosting parties.
Melonee was preceded in death by her son Michael Blackmon Jr.; her mother Magaline Foxx; grandfather Alexander Woods; three sisters Gayle Brown, Deborah Leach, and Zelinda Foxx; and devoted uncle Alvin Woods.
Melonee leaves to cherish many dear and loving memories her beloved son Marlon Blackmon of the home; maternal grandmother Patsy Woods (the apple of her eye); father Boysie Foxx Jr. of Baltimore, MD; devoted brother and caregiver Gary (Carolyn) Brown of the city; brother Boysie Foxx III of Baltimore Md; two sisters Andrea (Martin) Johnson of Grand Prairie, TX and Bozetta (Bonita) Scarbrough of Teachey, NC; a devoted uncle Gordon Woods Dean of the city; two special caregivers - her Niece Angela Graham and Danielle Ayodo; along with a host of nieces, nephews and other loving family members.
The funeral service will be held Saturday, November 26, 2016 at noon at Hanes CME Methodist Church, 819 N Highland Ave. The family will receive friends for a visitation one hour prior at 11 a.m. Burial will follow the services at Evergreen Cemetery.
