Michelle was absolutely the best mother I have ever seen. She continued to sacrifice everything to take care of her family and be with them. She quit working to take care of her precious daughter, Casey. She went to every party at school the kids had.  She went to all the functions at their school from the time they began. She was such a proud mother and she loved her kids more than anything else. She would go to all the games that they were in. From Bradley's wrestling to his running cross country.  From Ryan's guitar lessons he loved and track. Even the early years when Casey played Tball and the boys played youth  sports. She loved it all and wanted to be a part of every thing they ever did. She would take the boys and their friends out for movies all the time for their birthdays or just for fun. She enjoyed that so much. It was so funny because when I became a mom, I thought that was what I was supposed to do! It didn't take me long to figure that out. I always wondered why and how she could be in the car all day for hours at the time, well now I know. She always had something planned for her and Brad and the kids. All the trips, concerts and special events they went to.  All the ballgames, she was the center of planning and doing.  She loved her family so very much. Her and Brad loved each other so much too. From when they met at Wake, we could tell. Their love was so special. Their kids have grown into such caring, sweet and kind children, just like Michelle. I see her in all of them. Casey looks a lot like shell did at her age, tall and lanky...just beautiful. Bradley and Ryan both have her beautiful heart and kind spirit as well as her smile. She wanted the kids to have the best of everything, and they did. I know Michelle was so extremely proud of them. You could see the love in that family in each one of them when we would all be together. So thankful and truly blessed . She was a great example for me to follow on how to be a great Mama, she was the best.

Keep smiling and surely the sun will shine through.

Michelle, my Angel, I miss you every day no matter where I go or what I do, you are always with me in my heart. I want you to know how proud I am to have had you in my life to be your "mother". Your were the most precious gift I have ever received. You had a heart of gold. You were the most kind, loving, caring, tender hearted person I have ever known. You will always be my daughter, my best friend and my little girl. I miss your beautiful smile, big brown eyes and that contagious laugh. When I was sad you could make me forget my problems, you would make me laugh, you were so funny. We had so much fun together from  family birthdays, holidays but our lunches and shopping at the mall were the best.  The movies we would go see together we always laughed until we cried. All the trips we went on, I miss everything, nothing is the same without you. I just miss everything about you. "You may be the only glimpse of Jesus that some people may see. For that brief encounter may they see the smile on your face and joy in your words." I think Michelle lived this. Mama will always love you "Shell."

Shell I have thought a lot about you and a lot for along time and never say anything to anybody. I just keep it to me but in my 37 years you have meant more to me than any one could ever say. I remember dancing with you and playing with me while mama and daddy were working and trying to keep me under control. Love you for that always. Even when we took the couch cushions off and said they were alligators on the floor and we made places to get to the other side, it was priceless. I love you both, I have the best sisters ever! I loved riding my bike around the tennis courts while you, Liss and Mama were playing. Of course I would wreck like always, and we would have to go home and you then at my early age would bandage me up. The only one I would let touch me, you didn't know what you were getting yourself into hahaha, then you had to clean all my wounds! Then you went to Wake Forest and I got to come up and see you and your best friends Kerri, Amelia and the one of the best, Brad Davis. He was smart like you and was good to me, I loved spending the weekend with ya'll. We drew a lot, and like my son Waylon, you would be so surprised he is just like us. He likes to draw and is good, he reminds me a lot of you. I can see you in him. Thomas, you wouldn't believe how tall he is and he loves basketball, he is going to be something. He misses you and still asks about you. I say you turned in to an Angel and your watching over him always. Waylon remembers you too.  When you went to Columbia I loved coming down there and I can not forget California Dreaming and never will.  Chocolate milkshakes with whip cream. The best I ever had. Me, you and Linda. I can not believe I held that big boy Bradley in my arms and went to sleep, as big as he is now. I guess that is what you did with Thomas and Waylon. I am so grateful and blessed that you were here to see them and hold them, I wish I could you now. I love you and I miss you. You always made sure I was ok.

Michelle, my sweet loving daughter. She always put everyone's needs before her own. She always worried someone would be upset or sad and wanted to fix everything. She was so smart she could do anything she set her mind to. She was my basketball and football pal.  She would print me a bracket every year and we would talk after all the games.  She loved sports and knew all the teams, players and up to date on all the news. I miss everything about her. Nothing  is the same, there is just an empty hole in my heart and in our family that will never be filled. I miss the daily phone calls and seeing her smiling face. I miss you Shell and "daddy loves you"!

My sister, Michelle, was the best big sister and friend anyone could hope to have. She was always there for me and anyone else that needed her. She gave so much to others but still was always smiling, never complaining. I miss he so much it is difficult to talk about the pain and empty feeling that's with me every day. Even though the loss of Shell has caused a hole in my heart I know one day I will see her again and she will meet me with a smile on her face and her arms opened wide for a big hug and it will be as if no time has passed. With a very heavy heart today is my birthday and I miss you so much. Just a year ago you gave me such an awesome party, not even knowing it was the last one I would have with you on earth. I know you are smiling down on me and are with us all as we miss you beyond words. All my love, your sister.

Michelle was not only my best friend, but my sister. She has been with me through every stage of my life. She was always happy and always made everything so much more fun. She gave all of herself to everyone that knew her. She has been there with me through everything. Constant advice, school parties, the kids games and any other activity she could get to. She did not want to miss anything that they did. She was a second mom in their eyes, and hers. My kids were so special to her and she made them feel that way every chance she would get. She made everyone feel special. There is not a place I can go that I don't see her. She was a bright spot in my life and I am forever changed. I am deeply heartbroken for our entire family. She was the center of us. She was so special and so deeply loved. Everything we did together was fun and I am going to miss her beyond words.

My sincere condolences to your family in this time of grief. Michelle was a kind and generous person who lit up the room each time she came to the Dermatology Department. She will missed. From me and all the staff at the Wake Forest Department of Dermatology, we will keep you in our thoughts and prayers.

I had not seen Michelle as often due to our sons both driving now, but whenever I did see her at Wesleyan she was overjoyed to see me.  She always made me feel special.  Michelle was one of the first parents I knew at Wesleyan.  Ryan and Caleb sat next to each other in 4th grade.  She immediately took Caleb in as another friend to Ryan.  Ryan and Michelle made our transition to Wesleyan smooth and special.  She was thoughtful to the needs of others.  Many times she would call to invite Caleb over and to the movies for teacher workdays and half days.  This was so helpful to me as a working mom but also made us feel included and special.  Michelle, you will be greatly missed for your kindness, thoughtfulness, and generosity.  Brad, Bradley, Ryan, and Casey you are in our prayers.

I am so very sorry to hear of your loss.  I learned of Michelle's passing from a friend who could not talk enough about her smile and ability to light up the lives of all around her.  I lost my 51 year old husband suddenly this past September. I understand and feel your pain and sorrow and will pray for your family.
