Mildred Marie Anderson Miles

Mildred Marie Anderson Miles passed away peacefully on December 28, 2021 at the age of 99. She was the oldest of seven, born to Luther and Della Anderson on July 3, 1922 in Wilder, VA. Mrs. Miles was a resident of Bluefield, Virginia for most of her life and loved her home and community.

Mrs. Miles was compassionate and always doing for others. Her caring heart led her to the field of nursing. Mrs. Miles attended St. Luke’s Nursing School where she was awarded best overall nurse in her class. Mrs. Miles loved her career and cherished her time as a registered nurse.

Mrs. Miles married Glen Rutherford in 1945. Together they had 2 children. Glen passed away at the age of 39. Mrs. Miles remarried in 1961 to the late Frank “Jack” Miles. With Jack, she gained 2 step children and together they had another son, Michael Miles. Mrs. Miles loved her family and focused all of her love and attention on them.

In addition to her parents and spouses, Mrs. Miles was preceded in death by her son, Michael; stepdaughter, Shelby Miles Austin; and four siblings. She leaves behind her children, Vicki (Donald) Fought and Glen Rutherford, Jr. (Jan Maisel); step son, Frank (Margie) Miles; grandchildren, Kelly Royall and Adam Fought; great grandchildren, Johnny, Allie, Brayden, Brody, and Brantley Royall; and sisters, Gaynelle Jessee and Shirley Fleenor; and many special loved nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held in Bluefield in the spring.
