

She was born July 21, 1927 in Guilford County, a daughter of Orlinda and Amanda Doby Bowers. She married James D. Pollard on March 20, 1948 in Winston-Salem.
Surviving are her husband of 64 years; children, James D. Pollard Jr. of Mt. Pleasant, Deborah (Scott) Wilson of Rural Hall, Karen (David) Riccio of CT, Sandra (Jackie) Smith of Advance, Mark (Sharon) Pollard of Mocksville; grandchildren, Lisa (Kevin) Henderson, David (Rachel) Riccio Jr., Clark Smith, Adam (Chelsea) Riccio, Philip Smith, Timothy Riccio, and Katelyn Pollard; one sister, Doris Anders; one brother, Moody (Virginia) Bowers; and several nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents, and one brother, Daniel Bowers.
She was a member of Dulin United Methodist Church where she was a Sunday School teacher for 30 years, sang in the choir, and received a Life Time Award for her service with the Sunday School.
She was also a Chaplain of the Ladies Auxiliary Post 8719 and received Samaritan Honors. She was innovative, creative, loved to sew and crochet, she loved to bake and was a beautiful singer and storyteller.
A funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, December 22, 2012 at Frank Vogler and Sons Funeral Home Clemmons Chapel in Clemmons. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Westlawn Gardens of Memory in Clemmons.
