Molly Thomas Henderson, 85, passed away January 26, 2019 at her residence. She was born January 31, 1933 to Bill and Hazel Thomas in Winston Salem, NC. Her parents, and older sister Petey predecease Molly. Molly attended Wiley School, Summit School, and graduated from Reynolds High School Winston Salem in 1951, where she met her future husband Bill Henderson.
Molly was presented to society at the Debutant Ball in Raleigh, NC in 1950. She attended Fairfax Hall College in Waynesboro, VA after graduating from Reynolds High School. Her real interest was in Ladies fashion and soon went to work at Montaldo’s Fashions in downtown Winston Salem. She continued her romance with Bill while he served in the Army in Korea. On February 25, 1955 Molly married Bill and they lived in Harvard, Massachusetts until Bill’s discharge from the Army. She and Bill then moved to Raleigh where he attended N.C. State. While in Raleigh, Molly worked at Burton’s Fashions in Cameron Village.
Upon graduation, Bill worked in the Space Program and they moved to Daytona Beach, FL. Molly was a member of the Junior Service League in Winston Salem, Raleigh, and Daytona Beach. Molly was also a member of the Cherry Laurel Garden Club in Daytona Beach. Bill and Molly lived in Daytona Beach for 33 years before moving to Boone – Blowing Rock, NC for 10 years, and then returning to Winston Salem in 2007.
Molly is survived by her Husband Bill of 63 years, two son’s Tom (and wife Vikie) Henderson of Littleton, CO, and Robert (and wife Joette) Henderson of Gainesville, FL. Grandchildren: Morgan and Shelby Henderson of Littleton, CO, and Kyle and Tyler Henderson of Gainesville, FL.
Graveside service will be held at Salem Cemetery on January 31, 2019 at 2:00pm.
