He is survived by his wife, Margaret, of 57 years, daughter Diane Bullard and her husband Timothy, son Richard Carr Jr., and his wife Ann Louise, son Patrick Carr and his wife Tina, and grand children Richard Carr III and his wife Jamie, Mack Carr, Joseph Carr, Thomas Carr, George Proebster, Meghan Carr, Dillon Carr, and Conor Bullard.
Dick Carr served his community in many ways and was a Navy Veteran with service during the Korean Conflict. During his banking career in New York and South Carolina Dick was an active member of the community serving on the Board of Directors for Mather Hospital as well as Independent Group Homes, Inc. He was a charter member of the Police Athletic League and was active with the Rotary and Chamber of Commerce in New York. After retirement, Dick served on the Board of Advisers for Catholic Charities in South Carolina and was a 3rd degree Knight of Columbus. Dick Carr was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church in Clemmons.
Dick Carr had a smile and an optimistic view of life that was contagious. He greeted every situation in life with humor and kindness. Later in his retirement, his life centered around the love he shared with his grandchildren. He was the NFL Patriots’ biggest fan and football came second only to the love of his devoted wife Margaret and his rescue dog Sheba.
A private family celebration of life will take place on Thursday, December 4th followed by a burial with Military Honors at Salisbury National Cemetery.
