My mom, Rita, was a special lady.
She hated cooking and cleaning. Her husband, Carlton Harker, said he married a spoiled little girl and he never changed her.
But there was a lot Rita loved. She loved Jesus and being a Christian. There was no question about going to church while we were growing up. We were always, always there. She loved her husband and her family.
Rita loved being an American and a Republican. She was very proud of all her hard work for the Republican Party.
She was a very hard worker when necessary. However, we are sure she is much happier now enjoying heaven.
We are very grateful to Pastor Hoyle, Brighton Gardens, and Hospice.
She loved ACS maybe as much as her husband did.
Rita had a very good life and will be missed by all who knew her. Her son, Doug; daughter-in-law, Paula, her granddaughter, Kayla, and her daughter, Carla, enjoyed her for the special lady she was.
The funeral service will be Wednesday, June 14th at 11am a Vogler & Sons Funeral Home, 2951 Reynolda Rd. There will be a visitation half an hour prior at 10:30am. A gathering of family and friends will take place immediately after the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of Winston Salem.
