

Sandy served in the 8th Army in WW II and received the Asiatic Pacific Service Medal / Bronze Star, the Philippine Liberation Service Medal / Bronze Star, and a WW II Victory Medal. He became a heavy machinery operator and at retirement he and Lorraine bought and restored an 1866 log house in Pfafftown NC. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in King, was an avid gardener, and crocheted rugs for family, friends, and strangers. He loved his Savior, his wife Lorraine, his family, his dog Pete, and his home—and he will be greatly missed.
He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Lorraine Hampton Ridings; siblings Jerry Ridings, Dolly Llewellyn, Lillian Pegram, and Tommy Ridings; children Royce Ridings, Beverly Ridings, Sandy McMullen, Jon Ridings, Rebecca Moore, and Mark Ridings; eleven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and numerous nephews and nieces.
A celebration of life will be held 2 PM, Saturday, April 25th at Frank Vogler and Sons Funeral Chapel. Inurnment will follow at Crestview Memorial Park, 6850 University Parkway, Rural Hall, NC 27045. The family will receive friends following the service.
