February 23, 2013. A funeral service will be held at 2 PM Wednesday, February 27 at Frank Vogler & Sons Reynolda Chapel. Reverend Vic Pyles will officiate and interment will take place in Crestview Memorial Park.
Mrs. Belton was born in Winston-Salem to the late Mr. & Mrs. Otis and Mary Griffin Grubbs. She retired from Pilot Freight Carriers. She was a member of Woodland Baptist Church. Her family affectionately called her Nana or Doodle and will remember her as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She was always more concerned for others than she was for herself and she even made tough times seem like good times. Her love for her family was expressed through laughter, spending time with her grandchildren and having dinner together every Sunday. Her family’s love for her is expressed through this poem.
If love could build a stairway and memories a lane I would walk right up to Heaven and bring you back again. No farewell words were spoken. No time to say “Goodbye.” You were gone before I knew it and only God knows why. My heart still aches with sadness and secret tears still flow. What it meant to love you no one can ever know. But now I know you want me to mourn for you no more. To remember all the happy times life still has much in store. Since you’ll never be forgotten I pledge to you today. A hollowed place within my heart is where you’ll always stay.
She is survived by her daughter, Libbi “Elizabeth” Davis of Kernersville; grandchildren, Ashley Weidner (Jeff) of Atlanta, Tami Cooper of Kernersville, Josh Cooper (Haley) of Clemmons, Shane Belton (Kyetra) of Florida, and Scott Belton of Alabama; great grandchildren, Shelby, Sydney, Ethan, Jackson, Evan, Taft, Izzy, and Evan; great great grandchild, Tanner; sister Patsy Martin and friend Don Vaden of Germanton; sister-in-law, Phyllis Grubbs; several nieces and nephews and extended family. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband Kenneth Gray Belton, Sr., her son, Kenneth Gray Belton, Jr. and three siblings.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM Tuesday at the funeral home. On line condolences and floral tributes may be made at www.frankvoglerandsons.com.
