Walter had a strong love and commitment for family, church and friends. He was a long-standing member of First Presbyterian Church in Winston-Salem, NC where he found satisfaction in his faith, a better understanding of not only his need to learn more about his faith, but to better serve. He could be seen at most activities and services with a huge smile and a hand shake. He retired from RJ Reynolds Tobacco Company as a Director of Group Merchandising. He also served in the Air Force before starting his long career. After retirement, he also delivered Meals on Wheels for many years. He was also a member of the Newtown Masonic Lodge, # 427 in PA.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Natalie Parfitt Whiteman, whom he missed dearly after she passed and who he always took care of tirelessly throughout their life together. He was also preceded in death his father, Henry, his mother Mildred, his sister Judy and his daughter Kimberly. He is survived by his children, Lisa and her husband Dave of Cary, NC, Melanie and her husband Joseph or Folsom, CA, and Jon and son Matthew of PA.
Walter had a special message to share – I wish to thank God for the gift of life and family and friends who I have been fortunate enough to have in my lifetime and met along this journey. My family brought me much joy and happiness and I was happy to be a loving husband and took pride in being a Dad. Thank you and bless you all. No tears necessary as I enjoyed you in life and I hope that we will meet again.
