

Monroe-Mr. William Ray Kiger, III, of Weddington, NC died on April 21, 2013. Funeral services will be in Winston-Salem on Thursday, April 25 at 2PM at Frank Vogler & Sons Reynolda Chapel with Rev. Dr. Alice Kunka officiating. Interment will take place at Forsyth Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 12:00 to 1:45 PM at the funeral home prior to the service.
Bill was born in Winston-Salem to the late William and Mozelle Beeson Kiger, Jr. He graduated from RJ Reynolds High School. He received his Master’s degree from UNC-CH and attended Eastern Carolina University and Wake Forest University. After graduation, Mr. Kiger entered the retail field, first with Thalheimer’s then May Dept. Store and since 1992 with Belk Inc. where he received many accolades and awards most recently the Pinnacle Award. Professional associations include National Retail Federation, Merchant Risk Council and Association of Certified Fraud Examiners. His hobbies included the appreciation of cars, architecture, home design and the arts.
He is survived by his very close friend with whom he shared a home, Eugene Dominy of Weddington; uncle, Charles Kiger of Mt. Airy and his children, Angela Kiger-Battle of Washington, DC and Keith Kiger of Aviano, Italy; aunts, Frances Kiger Kirkman of Winston-Salem and her children, Karen Vinton of Cary, Kelly Kiger of Pfafftown and Katherine Kiger of Charlotte and Ruth R. Beeson of Charlotte and her children, Clarence Earl Beeson Jr. of Sky Valley, GA and Carolyn Beeson of Columbus; cousins, James Wilder of Winter Park, FL Susan Begley of Corbin, KY and Mary Earl Erickson of Asheville, the children of deceased aunt, Sara Lou Wilder; he is also preceded in death by uncles, Thamar Kiger and John Kiger and first cousin Kurt Kiger. Survivors also include several cousins and extended family.
