
Alan Frank Weisenberg M.D. passed away peacefully early Tuesday morning, August 27th, 2024 at OhioHealth Kobacker House in Columbus, Ohio. Alan and Cynthia Lee (Gallion) Weisenberg would have celebrated their 44th wedding anniversary this October. Alan was born on February 28th, 1947 to Shirley (Davis) and Elliott Weisenberg in Cleveland, Ohio. Alan became a big brother to Dennis (Denny) Weisenberg three years later and enjoyed the role his entire life, talking to him every single day for 75 years. Alan spent his childhood playing baseball, football and tennis for neighborhood school teams, fishing with his father, and falling in love with horse racing. His passion for harness horse racing was unmatched. He often told friends that he had attended the Little Brown Jug at the Delaware County Fair for 54 straight years. He loved nothing more than to share his passion with family and friends.
Graduating from Beachwood High School in 1965, Alan concluded his undergraduate studies at The University of Pittsburgh before attending The Ohio State College of Medicine. Alan worked late nights and long hours as an emergency room physician for Mount Carmel’s East and West Hospitals for 39 years. He devoted his working life to caring for others in need. Alan and Cindy met at Mount Carmel Hospital where Cindy worked as a nurse, sharing their devotion to helping patients. Alan was a longtime member of Temple Beth Shalom in Columbus, Ohio where he generously endowed the Temple Library in honor of his parents.
Alan is predeceased by his parents, Shirley and Elliott, and recently his brother, Denny (Joanna). He is survived by his wife Cindy and his two children, Alisabeth (Libby) Joy and Benjamin Davis Weisenberg, their spouses John Bogosian and Alison Weisenberg, and his grandchildren, Brian Alan Bogosian, Charles Davis Bogosian, Lucy Jeanne Weisenberg and John Harrison Weisenberg. He is also survived by his nephews Aaron Weisenberg, Jason Weisenberg, Kevin Weisenberg, Quinton Gallion and nieces Lynsey (Gallion) Snyder and Alexis (Gallion) Weinstein, their spouses and children. Spending time with his family brought him so much joy.
Alan was the most loyal and loving son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, uncle and friend. His commitment to his family and his friendships was unrivaled as was his positive outlook on life. His contagious smile will be missed by all.
Services will be held graveside on Sunday, September 1st at 1pm at Mayfield Cemetery, 2749 Mayfield Road, Cleveland Heights, Ohio 44106. Directly following the service, friends and family will be welcome to visit at the home of Dr. Sidney Savitt, 17384 Sugar Hill Trail, Chagrin Falls, Ohio 44023.IMMEDIATELY FOLLOWING SERVICES SUNDAY UNTIL 5PM.
