

BABIN, Anthony Whitelaw "Tony", age 92, of Jupiter, Florida died peacefully at his home surrounded by his loving family and private caregivers January 17, 2018. Anthony was preceded in death by his loving wife of 65 years, Marilyn Spagat Babin, daughter of the late Herbert and Kate Spagat of Columbus, Ohio and Miami Beach, Florida.
Born in Cleveland, Ohio to the late Elmer Joseph and Ruth Whitelaw Babin. He is also survived by his sister Judith Babin Kaufman (Jack) of Beachwood, Ohio and Naples, Florida, daughter Kathie Ann Babin of Glendale, Missouri and Jeffrey Whitelaw Babin and his wife Meryl Fishman Babin of Beachwood, Ohio. Anthony has four loving Grandchildren, Eliott David Harris of Webster Groves, Missouri, Jeremy Whitelaw Babin of Scottsdale, Arizona, Amanda Babin George (Dr Naveen George) of Rocky River, Ohio , Calli Rebecca Babin, Lyndhurst, Ohio and twin great grandchildren Fisher Michael and Clover Jane Harris of Webster Groves, Missouri. Anthony is also survived by his nieces and nephews, Lisa Kaufman, New York City, New York, Jim Kaufman (Lisa), Berkeley, California, Suzie Kaufman, Nyack, New York, Norma Meizlish Sober (Elliott) of Madison, Wisconsin, Jack Meizlish, Columbus, Ohio and Elaine Meizlish of Santa Fe, New Mexico.
Anthony was a graduate of Shaker Heights High School Class of 1944 and graduated from Ohio State University with a Bachelor of Civil Engineering in 1949. He was a member of ZBT fraternity. He was a proud Army veteran and Member of a Specialized Training Program.
He joined his father Elmer Babin in the management of their commercially owned real estate companies Aquilla and Variety Reality. He was a member of The Commerce Club of Cleveland.
He spent years building radio controlled airplanes. He pursued his passion for flying and completed flight training and his first solo flight in a C-50 from Cuyahoga County Airport in August 1969.
He was a Board Member of Oakwood Country Club, in Cleveland Heights, Ohio and a member of Jonathan's Landing Golf Club in Jupiter, Florida. An avid boater Anthony and Marilyn could be found fishing when they weren't playing golf or bridge. He became Commodore of the Jonathan's Landing Yacht Club in 2005. They pursued their love of adventure and traveled the world including 33 cruises from 1959-2008.
He was President of the Ruth Elmer Babin Foundation, President of the Hebrew Free Association and a lifelong member of Anshe Chesed Fairmont Temple of Cleveland, Ohio.
A celebration of a life well lived, the funeral will be held on Sunday, January 28th at 2:00 PM at Berkowitz-Kumin-Bookatz, 1985 South Taylor Road, Cleveland Heights, Ohio. The family will have a private service at Mayfield Cemetery were Anthony will join his beloved Marilyn for eternity. The family will be sitting shiva at the home of Jeffrey and Meryl Babin, 24700 Hilltop Drive, Beachwood, Ohio on Sunday from 7:00 - 9:00 PM, Monday, 2:00 -4:00 PM and 7:00 - 9:00 PM.
