Arlene was such a warm, caring, giving person.....the times we all shared on Hawken's Mother's Committee were the best! Arlene was always the first to offer to help whether it was for Fall Family Fair, the Auction, Field Day...anything that was needed....she really was so special.
My thoughts are with her beloved Berni and Adam, may

From the pictures and stories that she would share during our visits to her welcoming smile and warm hearted interest in all the members of our far-flung family, I miss her. Among other lessons, she modeled and taught me that an abiding interest in other people can take us out of our own story, our own suffering, our own pain, no matter how severe, and bring us for a time to a place of interest, equanimity and peace. Arlene, my older cousin, thank you for giving me this, a gift beyond price.

Dear Bernie, Adam and family:  Arlene possessed the most amazing energy,generous spirit and enthusiasm.  Her love of genealogy and her gift of linking people to family and family records/stories touched people not only in NE Ohio but across the US and Europe and beyond.  Arlene was a wonderful person and I cherish the time trouble shooting research projects and working with her in the Western Reserve Historical Society Library.

I am having a very difficult time capturing the essence of Arlene Rich. He passion and commitment to Berni and Adam could never be measured. Her love of Doris Day..did most of you know she stared the Doris day fan club?The boundless energy and ideas she brought to Hawken School and the Fall Family Fair. Each year it was better and better because of her creativity and her greastest partner, Berni. So many of us were treated to those wonderful Pumpkin Sundays because of a stop on the road Arlene and Berni took when they brought home so many pumpkins..all they could think to do was "have a party," make pumpkin pies and share them.Arlene wanted to find a lost relative of mine through her work with geanology. When I was in my hometown of Dayton one time and I mentioned Arlene's name to Leonard Spialter who was "The" expert on geaneology he was so impressed I knew Arlene Rich. We all were impressed by Arlene, he sile, her giggle, her amazing chocolate treats she would make when she came to your home. WE also used to share stories of our fathers who were in the upholstery business. We BOTH knew how to make couch and chair buttons and so much more.I loved her..and will miss her, and will forever be influenced by her time on this earth.

We think often of Arlene when we are out photographing family and friends. Arlene was always very generous with her time and talents and what I will always remember was her 110% commitment to her projects. Many of which involved family and friends but Arlene would also go to great lengths for complete strangers. We really appreciated having Arlene in our lives.

From the time I was a little girl,somehow I was always in awe of cousin Arlene. Remembering growing up and the family got together she just seemed so special. I. Also remember the years of the KYW Roadshow.  It was so awesome to go and see the entertainment.
