Barry was my friend for about 65 years. The Bear was a gentle soul, always kind, always helpful, always sharing and teaching   I will miss him, and I’m sure others will too.  Leon

Barry / Boruch was always around the community, and interacted with many new couples who lived in the apartment complex he called home for so many years. He took it upon himself to provide a succah, to build and store it, for the entire complex. Year after year, for maybe 20 years or so.

He had great stories, and a deep knowledge of history. He would indulge me with stories of his concert promotion days, the Rebbe, Jewish thought and more. Always smiling and always making me laugh with his dry humor.

He lived simply, focusing on what mattered most to him. Not getting caught up in the materialism of this world. Not concerned with who thought what. 

There is much to learn from Boruch, and his presence will be missed.

Barry was a member of Nu Chapter of Zeta Beta Tau at The Ohio State University in the early 1970s.  We had some wonderful times during those years.  He will be missed by his brothers.

Barry (Baruch) was the most pious, innocent man, so learned and dear. For 35 years (for probably thousands of hours) he shared his immense Yiddishkeit knowledge with me. He had studied with the Rebbe, Rabbi  Menachem Mendel Schneerson. He davened with the Rebbe hundreds of times. He had the Rebbe's light and spirit in him and shared it with me. He was also friends with Rabbi Moishe Carlbach who used to sing his name Baruch and good morning. Baruch was related to Rabbi Abraham Isaac Kook, the  first Chief Rabbi of British Mandatory Palestine. 

Baruch attended yeshiva in Morristown, New Jersey and later lived with the Jewish community's security forces in Crown Hts, NY.   Before that he worked in concert production and as a bouncer at rock concerts, among other jobs. Before that he was a wrestler at Shaker Hts HS class of 1965. Baruch had been interviewed by journalist and tv personality Joe Mosbrook for his book  "Cleveland Jazz History", about Barry's late father's jazz club in Cleveland.
Baruch enjoyed playing drums and percussion instruments in drum circles at Coventry PEACE park and along Lake Erie's shore, as recently as last year.
I am deeply grief stricken to lose such a dear friend. His health declined so rapidly and sadly this year. Before this year he was vibrant, interested in wellness and health and filled with a joyful appreciation of life and religious devotion. Love forever, Rachel.

Bear was my friend. We traveled together, we lived together. We talked often. I'm going to miss him, the sweetest man I know. Love you, holy brother.
