Bernie liked to call himself “the traveling man.” His journey began in the Navy, where he saw the world, and continued throughout his life as he traveled with his family, creating lasting memories and collecting stories along the way. He was a devoted and loving husband and father who took great joy in bringing his family together. He especially treasured time spent with his extended family and truly enjoyed being with them.
He started out as a cab driver and went on to become a successful entrepreneur in the scrap steel business, building a life through determination and grit.
He loved to say with a smile, “You’ll never guess who I went to high school with.” At North Hollywood High School in Southern California, he graduated alongside Sal Mineo, Natalie Wood, and Ricky Nelson, a story he never tired of telling.
Bernie will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, brother-in-law, uncle, grand uncle, cousin, and friend to all. His warmth, humor, and the life he built with those he loved will remain a lasting blessing to all who knew him. May his memory be for a blessing.
