

Constance "Connie" Muriel Berland (nee Caplan). Beloved wife, sister, mother , grandmother, great grandmother , and cherished friend- passed away peacefully on February 6, 2026, at the age of 103.
She was born on October 6, 1922 in Sharon, Pennsylvania to Nathan and Helen (nee Roth) Caplan. When Connie was five years old, her beloved brother, the late Allen Gerald Caplan (Shirlin-dec.) was born.
Shortly thereafter, the loss of their mother, set Connie on a lifelong path marked by courage, resilience, and deep inner strength. At age ten, she found love and guidance in the heart of her devoted stepmother, Molly (nee Molasky) Caplan.
After graduating from Sharon High School, Connie attended The Ohio State University where she met her husband the late Stanley "Bob" Berland.
Connie was a proud and active lifelong member of Alpha Epsilon Phi sorority and was honored to be selected as a homecoming queen candidate. She loved family above all else and was deeply committed to philanthropy and community service. When she was not working alongside her husband at Baum Drug and Key Drug, she volunteered extensively, including with Silver's Temple Mr. & Mrs. Club, Sisterhood, Temple Seniors, True Sister, and Mt. Sinai Hospital, She was honored with the Menorah Park volunteer of the year award
A survivor of both breast and colon cancer, Connie gave back by meeting with and supporting other patients, offering comfort, hope, and understanding drawn from her own experiences.
Connie was a passionate reader and an avid mahjong player. Until recently she completed a crossword puzzle every single day a reflection of her sharp mind and love of learning.
She is survived by her children, Joyce (Eric) Wald and Patricia (Gene) Rothman, her grandchildren, Sara (Brad) Coven, David (Abby) Wald, Abigail (Marc) Glick, Jodi Echelbarger, Jamie Rothman and nine cherished great grandchildren
Services will be held Monday, February 9th at 11 AM at Congregation MIshkan Or, 26000 Shaker Blvd Beachwood, Ohio 44122.
Private family entombment at the Mayfield Mausoleum
Family will receive friends at Congregation Mishkan Or MONDAY 2PM-4PM AND 6PM -8PM.
Tuesday the family will receive at Deer Park Lodge (formally Wiggins Place) 27070 Cedar Rd, Beachwood Ohio 1PM-3PM
