March 16, 1930 – June 1, 2025
Daniel David Ritz, 95, of Naples, Florida, passed away peacefully on June 1, 2025. Born in Cleveland, Ohio, on March 16, 1930, Daniel lived a long and joyful life marked by extraordinary creativity, endless humor, and deep devotion to his family
.
A gifted composer, arranger, and pianist, Daniel’s lifelong love of music brought joy to audiences everywhere he went. His original symphony, Israel, debuted in Bozeman, Montana, in 2009 — a crowning achievement in a life filled with artistic expression. Whether he was performing fairytale parodies in retirement communities or playing Name That Tune with friends and neighbors, Daniel had a flair for entertainment and a gift for making people laugh.
He shared 68 rich and often wonderfully chaotic years with his beloved wife, Sylvia Dorothy Ritz, (deceased) and in his later years, found companionship and joy with Norma Hartman, his partner of the last five years. Together with Sylvia, Daniel formed a comedy duo affectionately known as The Fabulous Ritz's, delighting audiences with their sharp wit and undeniable chemistry.
In addition to his artistic passions, Daniel was an accomplished salesman, earning numerous awards over the years while selling everything from Fuller Brush products to housewares. No matter what he was doing, he brought charm, enthusiasm, and a personal touch.
Daniel was the proud father of four children: Dianne Ritz-Salminen (John Salminen), Marilyn Ritz Rothstein (Neal Rothstein), Gary Ritz (Kathleen Ritz), and Steven Ritz (Jennifer Leinweber Ritz). He was a cherished grandfather to 13 grandchildren, and a loving great-grandfather to 22 great-grandchildren, with whom he shared a truly special bond. His grandchildren adored him and remained in close touch throughout his life — a testament to the lasting love and connection he nurtured with each of them.
Daniel’s legacy is one of laughter, music, family, and the kind of joyful eccentricity that makes life more beautiful. He will be remembered not only for his talent and humor, but for the way he made people feel — seen, heard, and loved.
There will be a graveside ceremony at Mount Olive Cemetery 27855 Aurora Road, Solon, Ohio 44139 at 9:00am Sunday June 8th. Friends and family will gather afterwards at 33399 Popham Lane Solon, Ohio 44139.
