DAVID L. POLK, beloved husband of Nancy (nee Wachs); loving and proud father of Melani (Kevin) Polk and Matthew (Devin Keudell) Polk, Amy (Chris) Soranno, and Brian (Jennifer) Schultz; adoring grandfather of Sydney Polk, Alexa and Cole Soranno, and Addison and Keegan Schultz.
Like his father, David became a CPA after graduating from Cleveland State University and opened his own successful practice in 1978. His clients came to him not just for his sound financial advice, but because they trusted and appreciated the deep and meaningful relationships he forged with them based on his unique ability to connect on a deeply personal level.
David was an award-winning photographer by hobby and was known for always having a camera or video camera around his neck. He won awards in art shows, and some of his photos are still on display at Congregation Mishkan Or, as he was a member of their photo club. His favorite subjects included landscape photography as well as taking pictures of his family.
He was a collector of many things that included a vast collection of Lego sets that he and Nancy built together and displayed proudly. He also was a proud collector of all things tech and loved getting the latest and greatest technologies in phones, cameras, televisions, and computers.
David’s greatest achievement was marrying Nancy, the love of his life, and bringing two families together. For 31 years, David and Nancy worked side by side in marriage and at David L. Polk and Co. They merged 4 children, then four spouses and then eventually 5 grandchildren, all of whom he couldn’t have been more proud.
David’s life-long love and aching devotion to his Cleveland sports teams were understood by many, as he often watched games with those most close to him.
David leaves behind an unbelievable number of friends, many from childhood, who adored him, laughed at his sarcastic and dry sense of humor, and supported him through all of life’s simchas and challenges. David’s legacy of love lives on in his family and will continue forever.
