Eugenia impressed so many with her intellect, and love of learning new things.  Her orchids on the window sills at Judson brightened the lives of all who passed them.  She is missed and thought of often.

Dear Eugenia's Family,

We met Eugenia at Senior Scholars classes in Cleveland many years ago.  She was a faithful attendee, with her embroidery ever in hand, but she stayed tuned in to the lectures.   She was always ready to go outdoors or to presentations, always said, "da", whenever we offered to take her somewhere, so we had wonderful outings together.   She was a truly a vivacious spirit and had an insatiable appetite for knowledge.

When I remember Eugenia, the following words come to mind: kind-hearted; unconditional love; compassionate; open home; selfless; and love of family.

She loved the beauty of God's creation, which she recreated through her embroidery.  She took such pleasure in my outdoor photography and often asked me for prints.

I was one of her Russian students for many years.  She loved sharing her heritage with me, especially Russian proverbs and poetry.

I so enjoyed our conversations about current events.  She would always ask me my opinion first, and then share hers.  We often were on the same page.  I so valued her humility and respect!

It was fourteen years ago that Eugenia and I met one another.  Of course, it was at her favorite bench by Lower Lake - where she met so many others.  She already knew my parents.  They had taken one of Case's cruises for seniors, this one to Greece.  My Mom and Eugenia struck up a friendship on the cruise, and during that time, my Mom shared about all her children, including yours truly.  I thank God that He brought Eugenia and I into one another's lives!  She was one of the most amazing people and dearest friends that I've ever had the pleasure of knowing!  It has been a privilege to call her "friend".  "Dosvidanya mya podruga".

Our sincere sympathy to Eugenia's Beloved Family.  She was incredibly proud of each of you.  Though we've never met you, we feel we know you through her photos and loving stories.

We are so grateful that she graced our lives with her joyful spirit!  Although we saw her only once a year, every encounter was a memorable experience in sharing our mutual love of nature, opera, art, and wonderful food.  She taught us much about unconditional love and kindness, what it means to be a true friend, and how to live fully in the moment.

Opening Reception for Eugenia Vainberg personal exhibition at Opus Gallery 

When the world's 7.96 billion people included Eugenia among them it was a better place. She sought only positive thinking and behavior from others, in my experience, with outward expressions of joy and happiness to everyone. It had to come from deep in her own soul, And it was a reflection, I think, of what she knew was the unhappy world of Eastern Europe that she never wanted to see repeated in America. Personally, I was grateful to Eugenia and always will remember for her loving friendship shared with my late wife Susan, who passed away at Judson Park three years ago this October after seven years as a resident. Eugenia was instrumental in getting Susan involved in the Jewish Shabbat and High Holiday services, that also then attracted myself and my domestic partner, Gary Mitchener, to them as well. Eugenia's memory lives on, as Gary and I continue to religiously remain a part of the Jewish community she brought us in to, while we also are members of the St. Paul's Episcopal Church congregation. 

Eugenia was my friend at predicasts database company 1985 and later .  She became a closer friend who shared her artwork with us, attended our Seder with her mother and kept us up to date on her grandchildren.  When she was at Judson I walked over from my office and/or phoned to keep in touch.  My wife and I are deeply sorry to hear about her passing and wish the family our condolences. May Eugenia's memory be for a blessing ! Joe Hecht 

Dear Vainberg Family, 

Sending you all our deepest sympathies. Eugenia was indeed so talented but above all her kindness will be cherished.  She was so kind and helpful to my mom Giustina. They shared the same birth date but different countries… my mom Italy. She will be greatly missed. Our thoughts and prayers are with all of you.
