Gertrude G. Winer

Gertrude Geraldine Winer (nee Goldhammer), passed away on July 9, 2024 at 103 years old in Beachwood, Ohio surrounded by her loving family. Beloved wife of the late David J. Winer for 58 years until his death in 2000. Loving mother of Dr. Norton (Lauren) Winer, Nina (Dennis) Krupa and Dr. Robert (Tara) Winer. Devoted grandmother of Jaime Winer, Scott Winer, Jennifer (Matt) Schreiber, Alexis (Adam) Adler and Stephanie (Andrew) Trees. Great grandmother of Shira, Orli and Lilah. Dear sister of the late Violet Spevack, Leonard Goldhammer and Aaron Saltzman.

She was born in Cleveland, Ohio to Bertha and Abel Goldhammer on December 1, 1920. She was especially close with her grandmother, Rosa Graus.

Known for her resiliency, her gregarious personality and her lifelong pursuit of knowledge, Gertrude earned her associate’s degree in her 70s and learned the computer in her 90s to assist in her son’s neurology practice. She was very social and fostered multiple lifelong friendships.

Her love of gardening, tennis, literature, sewing and baking filled her long life. She traveled across much of the world visiting countries like Japan, Indonesia, Singapore, Russia and Sweden.

The family would like to thank the Hospice team at Maltz Hospice and her loving and devoted caregiver, Allison Howard.

Services will be held Monday, July 15 at 12 Noon at the BERKOWITZ-KUMIN-BOOKATZ MEMORIAL CHAPEL 1985 S. Taylor Rd. Cleveland Heights, Ohio 44118. Interment Zion Memorial Park.

Family will receive friends FOLLOWING SERVICES AND INTERMENT UNTIL 6PM at Congregation Mishkan Or, 26000 Shaker Blvd. Beachwood, Ohio 44122.
