Harvey Ira Finkelstein, MD, passed away peacefully at home on March 25, 2024 at age 88. He is survived by his 3 children, Tracy Thomas (David), Beth Rosenthal (Robert), and Jonathan Payes. Grandfather to Samuel, Carly and Jacob Thomas, Joelle and Rachel Rosenthal, and Ethan Payes-Wolf. Brother to Dorothy Leavitt and Herrick Finkelstein. Harvey was born in Cleveland to Henrietta Heifitz and Samuel Finkelstein. After graduating from John Adams High School as class Valedictorian, he attended Harvard University and then earned his medical degree from Washington University in St. Louis. He practiced Radiology for over four decades throughout the country, including Cambridge, MA, New Haven, Ct, Cleveland, OH and Bardstown, KY. He served as a Captain in the U.S. Air force. He enjoyed classical music, was a car maven, a life-long learner and never lost at trivial pursuit.
A graveside service will be held at Zion Memorial Park, 5461 Northfield road, Bedford Heights, OH 44146 on March 27 at 1 pm. Family will receive friends at the residence of Beth and Robert Rosenthal, 2781 Sulgrave Rd., Beachwood, OH 44122 after the service until 8 pm, Thursday 4 pm - 7 pm, Friday 1pm - 3 pm and Sunday 1 pm - 4 pm.
