Born and raised in Russia, his departure leaves a void in the hearts of all who knew him. With heavy hearts, we commemorate the life of a man whose legacy will live on with his family.
Henry was a great engineer. After college he worked at Pamir company in Dushanbe. Later, he worked at an architecture firm, where he was very successful at engineering cooling and heating for most of the new builds in Dushanbe, Tajikistan.
Henry’s favorite hobby was photography. We have fond memories from our life in Dushanbe because of his great talent for taking photos and developing them by hand. His other hobbies include: reading and watching movies, traveling and chess. Henry was a great story-teller and a great dancer.
Yet, above all else, Henry’s greatest source of joy was found in the warmth and love of his family. As a father and grandfather, he showered his children and grandchildren with unconditional love, wisdom, and unwavering support. He loved playing Chess with his son, Dima, and more recently grandkids Levi and Natasha.
Henry was preceded in death by his son Dimitry Zavatski, his siblings Peter, Emma, and Victor, and his parents Peter and Agnes Zavatski. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Zoya Zavatski, who was always by his side; as well as, his daughter, Irina Zavatski, son-in-law, Jerome Joler, and his grandchildren, Selena Zavatski, Levi Joler, and Natasha Joler.
A celebration of Henry’s life will be held at Berkowitz-Kumin-Bookatz Memorial Chapel, 1985 S Taylor Rd, Cleveland Heights, Ohio 44118, on Wednesday, March 6, 2024 at 11:00 AM on March 6th, where friends and family will be gather in honor of his memory, share stories, and find solace in each others’ company.
