Howard J. Krause, a devoted father and grandfather to Nora, 9, and Stella, 7, passed away peacefully earlier this week at 78. His last years were highlighted by spending as much time as possible watching Nora practice and perform gymnastics and receiving Stella’s exuberant hugs. Grandpa Howard also enjoyed playing chess with them.
A dedicated Cleveland sports fan who attended Cavaliers games religiously with his children, he was also a proud supporter of The Ohio State University.
Born in post-war Germany, Howard immigrated to the United States at the age of six. As a proud second-generation Holocaust survivor, Howard actively participated in commemorative events, attended the first American Gathering of Holocaust Survivors in Washington D.C. in 1983, and supported groups for survivors.
He was also a passionate and successful salesman for over 50 years, Howard worked across various industries, always eager to learn about new products and systems.
A dedicated family man, Howard is survived by his children, Rachel and Jeremy (Sabrina); his beloved granddaughters and his sister, Renee. He was preceded in death by his sister, Lorrie and his father, David, whom he idolized.
A private burial is being held.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Howard’s memory to the Kol Israel Foundation (www.kifcle.org).
Arrangements were made under the supervision of Berkowitz Kumin Bookatz Memorial Chapel.
