

Born in Cleveland to the late Esther and the late Ben Bialosky on Feb. 20, 1929, Iris graduated from Cleveland Heights High School and later attended The Ohio State University. She earned her bachelor’s degree and master’s degree in social work from Case Western Reserve University.
A member of The Temple-Tifereth Israel and Oheb Zedek-Cedar Sinai Synagogue, her hobbies included bridge, knitting, crocheting, aerobics, tennis, travel, art, shopping, and most importantly, being with her children and her husband, Jerry.
Iris shared her wisdom with loved ones and with a sharp sense of humor. She lived her life her way and enjoyed every day to its fullest. She inspired all of us to be strong, capable and live life fully.
She is survived by her husband of 69 years, Jerry Zahler; children, Janet (Jack) Baum of Dallas, Texas, Warren (Katherine) Zahler of Dallas, Texas; grandchildren, Alana and Zoe Zahler, Dana (Eitan) Ingall, Nathan (Rachael) Baum; great-grandchildren, Riley Baum and Naomi Ingall; sister, Reva Leizman; sister-in-law, Syma Wyman; and brother-in-law, Archie Leizman. She was predeceased by her son, Ron Zahler.
Services will be at 11 a.m. May 5 at Berkowitz-Kumin-Bookatz Memorial Chapel, 1985 S. Taylor Road in Cleveland Heights. Interment will be at Mount Olive Cemetery.
Family will receive friends immediately following interment at Oheb Zedek Cedar Sinai Synagogue, 23749 Cedar Rd., Lyndhurst. The family will receive friends from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. May 6 to May 9 at the social room, 26200 George Zeiger Drive. Minyan will be at 7 a.m. May 6 to May 10 and at 8 p.m. May 6 to 9 at the social room.
