

Dr. Jay Richard “Dick” Gold of Lyndhurst, Ohio, passed away peacefully on March 29, 2025. He was born in Cleveland on October 17,1935 to David N. and Anne (Schnure) Gold. After his wife's untimely death, Dave Gold married Geraldine Einbund and together they raised their five sons in a blended Jewish household in Cleveland Heights, Ohio behind Cain Park.
Dick graduated from Western Reserve University (now Case Western Reserve University) and attended The Ohio State University College of Medicine. He was a member of Zeta Beta Tau Fraternity.
A devoted Cleveland sports fan, Dick attended both the 1945 (Rams) and 1950 (Browns) NFL Championship games, as well as several World Series games at the Jake. He and his wife were Browns’ and Indians’ season ticket holders.
Dick married Beverly Biederman in 1961 whom he met on a blind date; Beverly’s date had become ill and asked Dick to take her out. Their son, Roger, was born in Cleveland. Dick, Beverly, and Roger moved to Biloxi, Mississippi where Dick was a Captain in the USAF at Keesler Air Force Base. After completing his service, Dick, Beverly, and Roger moved to Pittsburgh where Dick served on the staff of the radiology department at the University of Pittsburgh Hospital. Dick and Beverly eventually moved back to Cleveland where their daughter, Laura, was born, and raised their family in Lyndhurst. Dr. Gold was an accomplished and respected radiologist and enjoyed a nearly 30-year career with Krause Lubert and Associates at Mount Sinai Hospital in Cleveland.
Dick adored his wife of 59 years and loved spending time with their family and numerous friends. They traveled extensively, enjoyed performances at the Cleveland Playhouse where they were long time subscribers, and were loving grandparents to David and Zev. After retirement, Dick took up cooking and loved preparing meals and discussing food while mixing a dry (gin) martini. He and his wife were well known for their New Years’ Day parties which featured Beverly’s homemade chicken soup and frequently involved watching football games.
Dick was the beloved husband of Beverly Biederman Gold (deceased), devoted father of Roger Gold (Dr. Deborah Rukin Gold) and Laura Gold. Loving grandfather of David Gold and Zev Gold. Dear brother of Gerald S. Gold (deceased) (Rosemary); Robert M. Gold; Lewis Einbund (deceased) (Shirley, deceased), and Michael (Robin) Einbund. Dear brother-in-law of Earl Biederman (deceased) (Marianne); Barbara Biederman Lebit (deceased) (Edward, deceased); and Robert Biederman (Joyce). Dear uncle of Anne Gold (Thomas) Kahn; Harry Einbund (deceased) (Julie); Karen Einbund (Geoffrey) Gray; Jennifer (Rochelle) Gold; Dana Gold; Brian (Isis) Einbund; Alyssa Einbund (Rick) Gravley; Scott (Leslie) Biederman; Lynn Lebit (Jon) Hardacre; Leslie Lebit Brown (Christopher, deceased); Brandon (Rachel) Biederman and Hunter (Dana) Biederman. Great uncle of many.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 am on Friday, April 4, 2025, at Berkowitz-Kumin-Bookatz Memorial Chapel, 1985 South Taylor Road, Cleveland Heights. CART Services/ Captioning will be provided at the funeral service. Interment will be at Mayfield Cemetery. Following services and interment, family will receive friends at the Gold residence at 1911 Bromton Drive, Lyndhurst, Ohio on Friday April 4th until 4:30 PM; Saturday April 5th from 8:45 PM - 10:00 PM; Sunday April 6th from 1:30 PM - 4:00 PM; 6:30 PM - 9:30 PM; and Monday April 7th from 7:00 PM - 9:00 PM.
