
Hyman, Jean M. "Jean" 97 of Beachwood, OH, formerly of New Rochelle, NY, died Monday September 26th, 2011 at Hillcrest Hospital. Jean was preceded in death by her loving husband Julian H. Hyman, Esq. of New Rochelle, NY. Jean was born on January 1st, 1914 in Pittsburgh, PA, to the late Louis and Rachael (Ellis) Miller. She grew up in Pittsburgh and Margate, NJ. In her teens she began teaching piano and performing as a singer/pianist. She continued her music career as a teacher and performer unitl her death. Jean was very involved in civic affairs in New Rochelle and also worked to actively promote music in schools. She was a long-time member of Temple Israel of New Rochelle and sang in the choir for over 20 years.
Jean is the loving mother of Barbara (Wayne) Dickey of Middleton, WI, Frederick Doob (Janice Benes) of Pepper Pike, OH and Greg Hyman of Boca Raton, FL. She is the devoted grandmother of Rachael, Zachary, Lisa, Scott, Marc, Polly, Oliver, Johanna, Richard; Jean is a great-grandmother of eleven.
Within her family, Jean was the "go-to" confidant and "Professional Mother-in-Law" of her "Daughters-in-Law" Marcy Hyman, Linda Gale, Janice Benes, Diane McCann and Katherine Doob.
The family would like to thank Jeremy Sacha, Connie Ware, Cheryl Russell, Johanna "J.J." Benes, and the Nursing and ICU staffs at Hillcrest Hospital for their care, professionalism and kindness in making Jean's last month the best that it could be.
