

Jerry Martin Zober MD, born January 2, 1948 passed away peacefully on May 20, 2024 at age 76. He was the beloved husband of Barbara Zober (nee Abt) of Pepper Pike, devoted father of Aaron Zober of Los Angeles and Rabbi Benjamin (Rabbi Sara) Zober of Reno, Nevada, loving grandfather to Toby, Naomi, and Ramona, dear brother of Muriel (Gary) Hecht of Norfolk, Virginia and beloved son of Shirley and Robert Zober of blessed memory.
Jerry was a graduate of Brush High School, Miami University of Ohio, and Creighton University School of Medicine. Growing up in South Euclid, he was surrounded by friends and good neighbors, many of whom were more like family than friends. The family are longtime members of Temple Emanu El, where he became Bar Mitzvah, and more importantly, was a part of the youth group where he met Barbara, the love of his life.
After completing his residency in psychiatry at The Ohio State University, Jerry and Barbara returned to Cleveland where Jerry was in private practice for over 40 years. He wrote short stories, poems, and authored the book, Quotes From the Psychiatrist's Couch. He enjoyed volunteering for Habitat for Humanity, Cleveland baseball, painting, gardening, photography, and SCUBA diving. He was a lifelong cruciverbalist, loved fixing broken objects and all manner of creative endeavors, and traveled around the world with his wife of 52 years.
Services will be held on Thursday, May 23 at 1:00PM at Berkowitz-Kumin-Bookatz Memorial Chapel. 1985 South Taylor road, Cleveland Heights, Ohio 44118. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at their home from 7 to 9PM on May 23, Friday, May 24 from 2 to 4PM, and Sunday May 26 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9PM. Friends may make contributions in Jerry's memory to Temple Emanu El (teecleve.org) or the charity of their choice.
