I’m deeply saddened to hear about the passing of Jill Buckeye. Jill was a true titan in the acoustical industry.  Respected, admired, and genuinely one of a kind. I had the privilege of working with her over the years, and always sought out moments to collab with her.  

Beyond work, I always enjoyed our conversations about college football.  Her love for Ohio State ran deep, and it was something we both looked forward to talking about. Jill had a way of lighting up every room she entered, bringing warmth, energy, and kindness wherever she went.

Jill was a wonderful woman and a true joy for everyone who was lucky enough to meet her.  I remember her helping her son Zack with the many booths at my contests and a more pleasant and enthusiastic person you’d be hard pressed to find. Knowing Jill Biales Buckeye since 1978, it is so difficult to believe that she is gone.  Her infectious laugh and buoyant personality that always left me feeling good  are etched deeply in my brain. So many wonderful memories from college and the decades that follow make me smile.

When she was first diagnosed with cancer, my husband Frank Belen  and I had many phone and text chats with her. Every time she left us feeling upbeat and positive and that she would beat this disease which she did for a long time. After Frank was diagnosed with lung cancer, she was immediately there via phone and text to chat with us and help it seem less scary.  She definitely helped ease my fears and hep us navigate his treatment plan.

Several weeks ago Jill reached out to let us know that cancer was discovered in her brain and radiation treatments would begin.

As always, she reassured us that this was just a blip on her journey and she wanted to focus on how Frank was doing and our respective class reunions as she was busy planning hers. 

In our last chat,  I let her know that we love her and were keeping her in our thoughts and prayers.  I just never though that these would be my last words to her.

Zack my prayers are with you, your Dad and your entire family as you all grieve her passing.  Take comfort  in the happy memories that you have of Jill and know that the almost impossible struggle she endured was well fought to the end.  She can now rest in peace and without pain and I am sure that she will continue to watch over you forever.

Jill we always had so much fun,, I am so sorry I couldn’t make 2 of your final wishes happen,, I wish I could’ve taken you back to your home so that you could’ve had one last time to hug your Zoe. I’m so sorry,, I’m so sorry that you will not be at our 50th reunion that you worked so hard to make perfect, but you will be remembered and honored that day by everyone,,  there wasn’t a person in that class that didn’t know who Jill Biales Buckeye was,, I can’t believe you’re not gonna be around to remind me of what I was talking about lol

Jill planned my bridal shower and pulled it off a surprise just 2 weeks ago. A dear and strong friend who my family will miss forever! I know you awoke in a beautiful,  heavenly place. Let those parties begin!

I first met Jill at Ohio State in 1974.  I remember her as always being a happy fun person with a positive attitude.  We kept in touch with each other over the years usually through an Ohio State football gathering of Baker Hall residents.  I think of her as a person who enjoyed life to its fullest.  I shall miss her.

To all of Jill's family and friends and the entire community. The loss of Jill is tremendous, she always had a smile and a hug for you. She lit up a room when she walked into it. She loved to celebrate her birthday for a weeklong celebrations. She was a wonderful mother and sister and friend. She was the best dog mom.

I'm so grateful for having known her. And let her memory always be for a blessing with love and caring about each other..
