Dear Heitner Family,
I have known Jon for over 45 years as I owned sermans clothes a family business in Downtown Detroit. I did business with his father Sam when I was a teenager. I am so sorry to hear of his passing as I have always been very fond of him and always considered him my friend. We talked regularly even after i closed my store in 2013, I was blessed to know him as i found him to be a very compassionate, 
 honorable family man who was always telling me about how much he loved his children and wife and seemed to enjoy his position in life! My sincere condolences on Jon's passing.  He was a great help to me and my business for many years.   There was always a concern for my success and always a smile on his face especially at my extra early morning show arrivals.  He will be deeply missed in the men's wear industry.  It will be very hard to replace his knowledge, talent and caring.

Jon and I had a remarkable relationship for 45 years.  He has been like a brother, son, and most of all one of my best friends. 
We worked together,  ate together, bunked together, played together and confided in one another.  With the help of each other we managed to keep our sanity in an insane industry.  Jon had the respect of everyone including family, friends, fellow salesman ,
manufacturers , loyal customers and most of all me.  We all knew him to be humble, honorable, trustworthy and knowledgeable.
He had a great sense of humor that he maintained throughout his catastrophic illness.
Everyone loved Jon for being Jon.  He will be sorely missed by all beyond anyone’s imagination.

He had a very refreshing, kind personality. We didn’t know each other well but I must say he offered to help me in any way as I was new to this show at the time. I am saddened to hear of the passing of Jon. Knowing Jon for 20+ years in the clothing industry. When I opened my business some years ago Mr. Heitner was a great help to me. He always tried to bring me out of being so conservative. I can't thank him enough for all of his help. When he was diagnose will cancer he called me to pray for him. I was very saddened to hear that Jon had passed away. I did business with him  for years starting when he first entered the clothing business many years ago. He was a good friend and a pleasure to deal with. He was generous with his time and would go out of his way to help. I feel fortunate to have known him. My condolences to his family.

Jon lit up a room with his presence. He was always fun to be with.  He smiled, laughed, and talked so intelligently. It's hard to wrap my head around the fact that he is gone.  He will be so missed.

He was my fashion advisor for my clothing stores. Always had great suggestions for the merchandise that would sell in the stores.
What I loved about Jon was his love for his family. He always talked about how proud he was of them. 
I felt he was part of my family when he would visit or when we talked every few weeks.  He was always interested how my wife and children were doing.

My deepest condolences to Jon's family and friends on his passing.  We were friends and colleagues for over 40 years in the clothing business and I know that the entire menswear industry is better for his being a part of it.  

He faced this disease with such bravery and grace and set a wonderful example for living his life, both personally and professionally.    He will be sorely missed by all that knew him.  May his memory be a blessing to us all.

Jon was very brave in spite of what he called a “death sentence.” He was as positive as the situation would allow. He always had suggestions for my business, many of which I utilized. He was great in the clothing business and will be missed by many there, as well of course by his many family and friends. My wife and I are deeply saddened by his passing.
